June 13

Another day of waking up early… today was a very adventurous day. We rode a train for about 2 hours this morning and went to Hardwick Hall. This is where Bess of Hardwick and Elizabeth Shrewsberry lived. The old ruins of the old Hardwick Hall were fun. We took some really fun pictures there. Next we visited the most recent Hardwick Hall. The tapestries were so large and all of the intricate detail was beautiful. After that we ate lunch at the restaurant there. Breanne and I had this carrot soup that was… interesting. Next we made our way to Haddon Hall. Here they had a medieval way of living and furniture. Part of Pride and Prejudice was filmed here. The part of the film where Elizabeth is in a bedroom reading a letter from Darcy. (Remember to look for this part.) The gardens here are amazing and definitely the most beautiful part. My most favorite part of this house and my most favorite garden. So we take the bus back to the train station… wait for a bit and then get on the train. One hour into the trip we realize that we are on the wrong train and are going in the complete opposite direction. We are supposed to be home at seven. We were almost to Wales. So we get onto the right train finally and don’t get home until 10:30. Breanne and I needed to do laundry today but didn’t have time at all. We will both be wearing dirty clothes tomorrow and hoping for time to do laundry.
